Al Atiq Vintage Oud

Laos 90

Laos 90 is a Laotian oud oil distilled in or around 1990, a quiet masterpiece that whispers from the past with poise, elegance, and an almost otherworldly beauty. This is not your typical contemporary Laotian oud — there is no trace of blue funk, no cheesy tang, no overbearing barn. Instead, Laos 90 opens with a sheen of Agawudines — a glimmering complexity that calls to mind echoes of Cambodia, touches of Borneo, and unmistakably, something wholly and beautifully Laotian.

You might be wondering how we continue to present such rare and vintage treasures. The answer lies in the trust and goodwill we’ve cultivated with some of the most respected figures in the oud world — collectors and distillers who have been at the heart of this craft for over 50 years. These are individuals whose collections are spoken of in hushed tones — people who have witnessed the evolution of oud from wild forest distillations to the boutique oils of today. Al Hashimi has been granted access to private vaults through these rare, privileged connections that the public will likely never see. And through us, so have you.

Laos 90 is a shining example of what such access means. On first contact with the skin, it unveils a delicate, velvety floral musk — soft, clean, and meditative. There is none of the abrasive intensity often found in plantation or organic oils. Instead, the experience is pure refinement. The floral aspect is tender and slow blooming, evolving gently into a sweeter floral heart as the oil warms and settles with a kinamic twist at the end.

There’s something unmistakably nostalgic about it. It brings to mind our sinking grade Kanz oil we distilled in Sabah back in 2018—also floral, musky, but with its own Bornean signature. Laos 90, however, is resolutely Laotian in character. It’s graceful, introspective, and profoundly elegant—a fragrance that doesn’t shout but sings in a whisper.

This is not a loud oil, nor is it meant to be. It is a Kodo Oud — a quiet conclusion to a long-forgotten melody. Perfect for solitary moments, for reading, reflection, and ritual. It’s the kind of scent you wear for yourself, not for the crowd. And while Al Hashimi is known for bold, resonant oils, Laos 90 was simply too exquisite, too rare, to pass up — even if it meant stepping outside our usual profile.

It is worth noting: this is not something you’ll see again. Oils like Laos 90 do not turn up in shops or most private collections. It is one of the unicorns, drawn from a vault few even know exists. And it’s a privilege for us to hold it, and for you to experience it.
